Tropical Jungle Air Dry Clay art

Inspired by the colourful paintings by Oenone Hammersly, we are beginning a New Year and New Term with a focus on jungle animals. We are breaking this into two projects.

The First - an airy dry clay sculpture tile - children will be practicing their sculpting and motor skills by making a 3D relief Tiger or Leopard head onto a ceramic tile, which we will then paint. 2 - 3 sessions.

The Second - a painting to accompany the tile which features a Jungle scene.

For our full term sign ups, we will follow along with the next project once the details are released in the second half  of the term.

Our ART classes are artist-led weekly one-hour sessions following the School calendar, during which we will  study various art and creative techniques where children can experiment with mark-making, texture & colour- gaining a good understanding of application using a variety of materials- from acrylic paints/watercolour /collage/ chalks/ inks etc.

Our projects are usually 4 - 6wks long, where we study the work of a famous artist as our inspiration for our art piece such as a painting on canvas, pastel study.

  • Age range- Yr 1 - Yr 6

  • 3:20- 4:20 pm

(IMPORTANT - we regularly use pencils, scissors and PVA glue during art workshops, therefore all children are required to be able to follow safety instructions, which includes sitting in their chair as much as possible while we are creating the artwork - please make sure your child is comfortable doing so before booking. any questions about this, please enquire).
